Search Current Inmates in Walton Jail

There are several ways to find out if a specific person is in custody at the Walton County Jail.

Online Search

  1. Visit WaltonGACourt.us to find public information about court cases and records related to inmates.
  2. Go to the official Walton County inmate roster. The page displays a complete list of individuals currently held, sorted by last name. Since the roster is presented as a single list without a separate search field, use the browser's "Find on Page" function (Ctrl+F or Cmd+F) and enter the last name.
  3. To search Georgia court records, use the E-Access to Court Records portal — an account is required.

To start the search, prepare:

  • The person's full legal name (last name and first name)
  • The booking number, if known

Juvenile records are not displayed in the public roster.

Call the jail directly. The operator can confirm if the person is in custody if you provide the full name or booking number.

Find Walton Jail Booking Records Online

A booking record is created at the moment an arrested person is officially registered at the jail. This process includes recording personal data, photographing, fingerprinting, and entering information into the facility's database.

A typical record contains:

  • A unique booking number
  • The date and time of intake
  • A list of charges
  • The name of the arresting agency (sheriff, Monroe city police, etc.)
  • The bail amount, if set

Most of these details are displayed in the online inmate roster next to each record. The roster shows only those currently in custody — once released, the record disappears from the list.

To obtain a copy of the booking record after the person's release, contact the Walton County Sheriff's Office with a written public records request in accordance with the Georgia Open Records Act (O.C.G.A. § 50-18-70). The sheriff, as the custodian of jail records, is required to provide access to non-confidential documents within three business days.

Search the Walton Jail Roster by Last Name or Booking Number

The official Walton County roster is organized alphabetically by last name. There are two main ways to find the person you are looking for:

By Last Name

  1. Open the inmate roster.
  2. Press Ctrl+F (Windows) or Cmd+F (Mac).
  3. Enter the last name. If the last name is common, add the first initials separated by a space.

Some tips:

  • Check spelling — one extra letter means zero results.
  • Try a shortened version of the last name if the full spelling yields no matches.
  • Double last names are sometimes recorded with a hyphen, sometimes without.

By Booking Number

If you know the number, enter it into the browser's search bar on the same page. The booking number is a unique identifier, so the result will be precise.

When a search returns nothing, it could mean several things: the person has already been released, transferred to another facility, or the last name was recorded differently than expected. Call the jail for clarification.
